AKF: Acquisition of Dorlastan® successfully completed

Asahi KASEI Fibers Corporation (AKF) announced today that its agreement with LANXESS for the purchase of the Dorlastan® Spandex business is finalized. This agreement, which started as a memorandum of understanding in mid-November, signals the legal and economic transfer of said business from LANXESS to AKF.
In acquiring Dorlastan®, AKF is able to strengthen its position as a leading manufacturer of synthetic elastic fibers and expand its geographical presence.
According to the agreement, AKF acquired the Dorlastan® production facilities in Dormagen / Germany and Bushy Park, South-Carolina / USA.
With existing plants in Japan, Taiwan, China and Thailand, this is a significant stepp in increasing AKF’s global reach in the Spandex industry.
The acquisition also serves to broaden the company’s product portfolio, combining the advanced Roica® technologies with the established values of Dorlastan®.
Through its worldwide marketing and service network and this expanded portfolio, AKF can focus on meeting specific customer needs, including the further development of special products for high-end applications that meet the market needs of the future.
