Fantastic elastic in volleyball

Start of the season 2003 / 2004 of the Leverkusen ladies national league

The ladies volleyball team of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen is making a good sporting figure this year, too. The volleyball players are now playing the fourth national league season in the kits made of highly functional knitwear containing Dorlastan.

Along with the young and ambitious up-and-coming players, trainer Gudula Krause, together with her new co-trainer, Dirk Sauermann, are entering their second year as trainers at Bayer 04. The volleyball department will continue to place their bets to a large extent on young German players. Besides the tried and tested efforts under the captain Judith Flemig, such as Judith Sylvester, Julia Schlecht and Kathy Radzuweit (all three of whom currently play for the German national team), the two junior national players Lisa Thomsen and Nadja Schaus come from VC Olympia Sinsheim. The U18 beach volleyball European champion Laura Ludwig is transferring from Berlin to the Rhine. The regular “young and wild“players, such as Sara Goller or Kathy Radzuweit consciously act as models for the junior TSV players. The integration of young players, who may still be developed, into the national league team is part of the long term plan for promotion. The talented junior players are to be given sufficient time to maintain themselves in the national league team. At the same time the trainer team of the volleyball department wishes to train talents from their own successful junior players to be able to be among the top national players. Current information is available under http://www.bayer-volleyballdamen.de/index_volley.html

The elastic filament fiber Dorlastan is specially made for the demands of volleyball clothing. “The material is extremely flexible and allows all kinds of movement particularly in volleyball. The players feel very good in these clothes which allow them the pest possible freedom of movement“, says Bayer Dorlastan expert Frank Winkes, who is in charge of organizing the partnership with the Bayer volleyball ladies for the fourth year already.

The functional fabric with Dorlastan, from which the one-piece kits are made later, are produced on a warp knitting machine.

Here 200 to 300 meters of Dorlastan knitted fabric are turned into a roll, which more or less looks like a large roll of fabric in a specialist textile shop. The Dorlastan chemical fiber undergoes a control control during production already. Besides this, single threads are clamped into elasticity devices. Two bobbins then pull the Dorlastan threads so long until it tears. A scale then shows whether the fiber satisfies the Bayer quality standards. Finally, it must be possible to stretch it seven times its own length. Subsequently, the knitted fabric is dyed and fitted before the one-piece kits are produced. It is possible to produce all colors.
