Dyeing and Finishing
Dyeing and finishing of wovens and knits containing Dorlastan
Since gray fabric is not suited for making-up, the appropriate conditions for achieving the desired finished article properties must be created for the specific fabric and customer requirements
These properties include:
- color - luster - touch - m²-weight - stretchability
Finishing of elastic fabrics
- Relaxation
Relaxation of the article by means of steam or hot water in relaxed condition.
- Heat-setting
Setting is always required to establish weight and dimensions. The setting temperatures are dependent on the type of Dorlastan that is used.
Type: Polyether 192-196°C Polyester 185-190°C
Exposure time ranges from 25-60 seconds.
- Pre-scouring
In combination with the lubricants of other fiber types (mineral oil, paraffin, etc.) the silicone oil required for the processing of elastanes can cause considerable problems in form of stains and stripes after dyeing. Thus, pre-scouring based on a solvent or water is recommended.
Whether the scouring is performed in open width or in rope form is mainly dependent on the article and to a certain extent also on the available machine park.
- Dyeing technique
The applied dyeing technique (open-width or dyeing in rope form) is determined by the article’s tendency to crease.
- Finishing/Aftertreatment
There are numerous possibilities for aftertreatment. Which techniques are applied depends on the composition of the article and the customer’s requirements. It is of major importance that the applied substances do not have any negative effect on the desired stretchability. |
